چکیده

The axillary artery is the continuation of the subclavian artery beyond the outer border of the first rib. The artery is divided into three parts by the pectoralis minor muscle. The first part of the artery gives superior thoracic artery. The second part of the artery gives lateral thoracic and thoracoacromial branches. The third part gives subscapular, anterior circumflex and posterior circumflex humeral arteries. The axillary vein is the continuation of the basilic vein at the lower border of the teres major muscle. It continues as the subclavian vein at the outer border of the first rib. The median nerve is usually formed just lateral to the third part of the axillary artery by the union of its medial and lateral roots coming from medial and lateral cords of the brachial plexus respectively. It then descends down in the front of the arm and crosses the brachial artery from lateral to medial side. It enters the cubital fossa along with the brachial artery. Radial nerve is the largest branch of the posterior cord of the brachial plexus. It lies posterior to the axillary artery initially, and then runs downwards and laterally to enter the posterior compartment of the arm by passing through the lower triangular space, with the profunda brachii artery. The profunda brachii artery is normally a branch of the brachial artery. The musculocutaneous nerve is a branch of the lateral cord of the brachial plexus. It pierces the coracobrachialis muscle and enters the front of the arm. It supplies the biceps, brachialis and coracobrachialis muscles. We saw variations of axillary vessels, radial, median and musculocutaneous nerves in the right upper limb.

Case Report: A Case Report on Variation in Bifurcation of Brachial Artery

Variations in arterial anatomy are less frequent, contrary to the venous system, and most of these variations affect visceral arteries. Variations in the brachial artery are the most frequently reported and so far a minimum of six different patterns have been described. The most common of these patterns is the superficial brachial artery, which lies superficially to the medi...

Case Report: Formation of Median Nerve by Three Roots

Atypical connections in the formation of the brachial plexus are prevalent and have been reported in different articles. The present report describes a case of variation of the median nerve observed in the Iranian male cadaver during routine trial dissection. There are three roots for median nerve. Median nerve is formed by joining two lateral and medial cords of brachial plexus. Third root ...

Axillary arch and other neurovascular anomalies in a cadaver.

The co-existence of multiple variants in the axilla has been rarely documented. Hence, we report the multiple variations of axillary structures and axillary arch. During a dissection of axilla of adult male cadaver, following variations were encountered. a) One superficial and complete type of axillary arch on left axilla only. b) Venous chiasma between the basilic vein and brachial vein of bot...

A Case Report of Variant Origin of Left Vertebral Artery from Aortic Arch and its Embryological Explanation

Vertebral artery is the first branch of subclavian artery. It merges with the same artery of the opposite side to form basilar artery and becomes one of the important source of blood supply to the brain. Variation in the origin of left vertebral artery was found in 65 year old female during magnetic resonance angiography of the neck vessels. It originated from aortic arch and was longer as ...

Paper: A Case Report of a Rare Variation in Arising Branches of Brachial Artery

Variations in the arterial pattern of the upper limb are abundant and diverse and have been observed frequently either in cadaver dissection or in clinical practice and reports. In the most of these reports, radial or ulnar arteries were commonly involved, which can be damaged during surgical procedures. This report presents a case of a rare variation in arising branches of brachial artery. Dur...
